What this service covers
The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 place hard duties on the client and require the appointment of a Principal Designer on every notifiable project. We take that appointment and discharge it properly — leading design-team co-ordination on health and safety, producing pre-construction information, monitoring for foreseeable risks through the design stages, and preparing the health and safety file for handover.
We support clients in discharging their own CDM duties: mobilising a competent design and construction team, ensuring adequate time and resources are allowed, and confirming welfare provision at site level. For residential clients on notifiable domestic projects, we advise on where the client duties transfer to the contractor and where they do not.
Our Principal Designer work is grounded in an understanding of how West Sussex construction sites actually run — coastal weather, heritage constraints in Chichester and Arundel, urban co-ordination in Worthing and Crawley — rather than a generic checklist.
